Just 3 days ago we took a look at episodes 5 and 6, due to taking a bit of a break over the holiday. Now we're right on time for Episode 7. As usual - there will be little in the way of plot spoilers in the article, but the comments are fair game.

Episode 7: We're Gonna Be In So Much Trouble

The episode starts on At Attin with the parents trying to send a message to kids, which turns out to be something akin to a little drone pod they need to launch. We see most of the parents here, as well as hints of the security droids. The droids have been pretty compelling when considered as a candidate for TVC, while the parents less so. Nevertheless, they do seem to be playing key roles in the story, albeit with minimal screen time.

We see the kids on the shiny new Onyx Cinder for a few minutes, and then switch to Jod as a captive on the pirate frigate. Nothing new here, but more good looks at all the pirates that are definitely popular - Vane even had a line here. We get a cool look at Glerb, the Quarren pirate (whom Jod promised would be able to afford an entire ocean for his glow weed farm in the previous episode). Glerb dons a visored flight helmet and takes off in a snub fighter to test the atmosphere of a nearby planet. I thought this was super cool, and then remembered that we have a Quarren X-Wing pilot from one of the comic packs, but this guy was better than that EU nonsense from the picture books.

Then some stuff happens and the kids, Jod, and the pirates are reunited. If they ever come out with an Onyx Cinder (almost a certain zero chance, of course), not only does it need a removable hull shell, but it definitely needs that large claw above the ramp. There's a confrontation and Brutus does something that I thought was highly unexpected, but no spoilers here. Jod makes use of his newfound weapon from 2 episodes ago, in a very Jod-like manner. Also, if we ever get that SM-33 droid, he will need to a particular action feature included; one that gives me PTSD from a previous figure release that was super spoilery at the time.

As the crew makes it to the surface of the planet, a bunch of security droids (there they are again), begin to escort everyone to where we expect to find the hidden treasure. Here we get a great look at what all the fuss is about. There's a big reunion, and then the penultimate episode closes on cliffhanger.

It was a good episode, I thoroughly enjoyed it. For figures and toys, there isn't really anything new here that we hadn't seen already. We get more of the same characters: The kids, the parents, Jod, Brutus, SM-33, the pirates, and the security droids. The most interesting look was Glerb donning the helmet and flying the snub fighter. Otherwise, nothing jumped out. For ships, we get the Pirate frigate, which of course is right out. More of the Onyx Cinder, which is awesome. Another look at a pirate snubfighter which has piqued collector interest since seeing them in The Mandalorian. For environments, there was nothing new, just recycled looks at At Attin - although the vault door was pretty cool, although we saw something similar on Aldhani in Andor.

This episode, likely just reinforced our current TVC wishlist from Skeleton Crew (if you have one). Pirates, SM-33, probably the kids, and more of the security droids and parents. Plus the Onyx Cinder. While it currently exists in a vacuum, I'm suddenly glad I have a Jod figure. I'm really enjoying Jude Law's part. Also, I'm sure I'm very late to the party on this, but I learned that SM-33 is a play on Mr. Smee, Captain Hook's loyal bosun. And while I didn't see the 2023 film Peter Pan and Wendy, apparently Jude Law plays Hook. The circle of life, this is.

Next week is the finale, and I'm looking forward to it. It's been fun so far!
