If you go on to Entertainment Earth and sort the Hasbro Star Wars product by "Bestseller", you will get the following result as of the time of this publication:
You can see that the Vintage Collection Episode 6 Boba Fett is the #2 bestseller on that list. Think about that for a moment. That figure went up for presale in October of 2020. Six months later, it still ranks highly on Entertainment Earth's bestseller list. That is astounding, but it also frustrates me. The return of the Vintage Collection has felt like it's been a battle for survival, but this should have been simple.
Hasbro, if you give us all new and definitive versions of core OT character that are badly in need of an update, we will buy them. We will buy them, buy them again, take a breath, and buy them some more.
Don't mess around. Don't take old sculpts, give them a new belt and Photo Real, and count them as updates. Make all new definitive sculpts.
The community has been clamoring for updates to some of these since before the dreaded 2018 wave 1 even sipped. The following would sell so well, it shouldn't be a case of "taking something else off the board.” This Episode VI Fett proves it would be good business to add these to the budget:
Episode IV Farmboy Luke
Episode IV Princess Leia
Episode IV Han Solo
Episode VI Darth Vader (dueling)
Episode V Boba Fett *
* Obviously the Episode V Boba Fett would be the exception to the "all new" rule. The figure that serves as the inspiration for this article can be retooled in that case.
