A new report from Making Star Wars indicates that Lucasfilm might be going into overdrive to get projects completed ahead of a looming Writer’s Guild of America strike in May. You may recall the WGA strike in 2007 when the networks pivoted to even more reality television (if you can imagine that) since those productions are unscripted (wink). For this reason, season 4 of the Mandalorian was written ahead of schedule so that it can go into production in October of this year. But that's not the big news that prompted this article. They also write:
Interestingly, I have recently spoken to sources around Southern California who are working on production elements specifically tied to the character of Boba Fett himself. These sources believe they are working on the second season of The Book of Boba Fett...
They continue:
In Southern California, new Boba Fett props, Slave-1’s cockpit and so on are being made for a Disney+ series. Moff Gideon’s new Mando armor is being remade, Gideon’s new Imperial Troopers, and Mando’s new jetpack have all been glimpsed by my eyes on the ground. But these items appear to be from two different productions otherwise, I would just chalk its all up to Mandalorian 4 and be done with it.
I personally do hope that the Book of Boba Fett season 2 has been green lit. While I have plenty of nit picks with season 1, none of them are damning. In my opinion, the series would have been infinitely better if it were told chronologically from the moment Fett emerged from the Sarlacc Pit without the heavy use of jarring flashback, and of course I'd get rid of the Vespas, but I still enjoyed the overall story. I actually think moving into a Tony Soprano type of role makes more sense for the aging bounty hunter. I would love to see that story continue, especially with the hanging chads season 1 left. Is Cad Bane alive? What is Cobb Vanth's role going forward?
Regardless of whether or not this scuttlebutt indicates a second season of Book of Boba Fett, it definitely indicates that Fett is likely back in live action in a significant way. This pleases me.
