The Mandalorian has put Star Wars on a pop-cultural status with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The MCU has fans who never picked up a comic book. Editor’s Note: Hey! I once picked up a comic book and used it as kindling. The Mandalorian has fans who think Harrison Ford's character is "Hans" Solo. From night lights to toothbrushes to lunchboxes, if a manufacturer puts a "t-visor" on the packaging, retailers will place orders first and ask questions later. When it comes to toys, Walmart's head must be spinning over how fast their latest shipper got savaged by hungry collectors.
The recent shift to The Mandalorian focus in The Vintage Collection is great, but many of us are interested in seeing Hasbro complete the collection of "Original 96" figures from the vintage Kenner line. But instead of either The Mandalorian OR Original 96, why not both? Many of the characters from The Mandalorian are identical to, or directly inspired by, some of those Original 96's still missing from The Vintage Collection. In a theme similar to the "Flashback" line from POTF, we suggest Hasbro create a series of action figure 2-packs containing individually carded figures. One figure would be sourced to The Mandalorian, and the other figure would be its Original 96 counterpart.
After the recent retail success of almost all Mandalorian product, and the RECORD BREAKING SUCCESS of The Razor Crest, I have to imagine retailers would gleefully snap up any new product if it were marketed under The Mandalorian banner. This could greatly expedite crossing these 96's off our list.
