Our Forums Are Back In Business

We are pleased to announce that our forum feature is back up and running. For the past year or so it had been operating on life support. We were running an older version of the software that was no longer supported. I attempted to patch to the latest version, but that failed without generating an error message. I simply gave up, and had to shut off registrations entirely due to the fact that an unpatched security hole was generating more spam posts that actual member submissions. The forums were stuck in this "members only" clubhouse state for a long time.

Then matters got worse. Our hosting provider performed software upgrades to our server. Those upgrades were now incompatible with our old forum software. As a result, the feature were completely knocked out of commission. Even the private club we had was down. It had been a long time since I had attempted the upgrade, and I hoped that in the interim they had fixed that silent crash I experienced. In a true Festivus miracle, it worked. We were patched up to the laster version...but no one could log in. Another week of working with tech support, and I am pleased to announced that the Bantha Skull forums are back and running! Plus we can now reopen registration! Even better, this latest software features a responsive design, so it works perfectly on mobile devices. Huzzah.

I you were not previously a member, a lot of the characters you interact with in the comments on the front page also keep the conversation going in the forums. Plus we can branch off into off-topic subjects. If you do sign up and don't receive the email to confirm your account, please check your spam folder. If it's not there, please let us know through the Contact Us link, and we'll get it squared away.

Finally, we haven't had a lot of time to set up the styling on the forums. Our old styles are not compatible with the new software (and Mr. Nomadscout did 99% of that initial set up, but now he's too busy). I've added a rough draft of the "Death Star" theme (see screenshot above), but it's a work in progress. You can choose your theme at the bottom left of the main page.
