On November 12th, 2019, the Disney+ streaming service was launched. To commemorate the anniversary, Disney will celebrate Disney+ Day. You can read the announcement HERE. Disney writes:
On Friday, November 12, The Walt Disney Company will host Disney+ Day, a global celebration that will come to life across all dimensions of the Company. Subscribers to Disney+ will be treated to new content releases across the service’s iconic brands, Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and Star in international markets, along with a special presentation on Disney+ for fans with sneak peeks into what’s to come.
While the announcement doesn't give a great amount of detail on what the Star Wars offering will be, they provide the following:
A special celebrating the origins and legacy of Star Wars’ legendary bounty hunter, Boba Fett
While cryptic, the potential is off the charts for me personally. "Origin" could mean a couple of things, either of which are pure gold. It could cover the first appearance of Boba:
Alternatively, it could be more of a behind the scenes look at the development of the costume and character:
Both of those are favorite subjects of mine. Then there's the "legacy" part. It would be a sin if this doesn't include a dive into the toy history of Boba Fett. Specifically:
I still contend that the legend of the Rocket Firing Boba Fett helped play into the character's cult status, despite minimal screen time. Of course, the Kenner commercials helped boost Fett's Q-score as well:
Regardless of what comes, it feels like we're entering a new golden age of Star Wars where classic characters are treated with respect.
