My Overdue Reaction To The Vintage Collection Jedi: Survivor Multipack

My reaction to this Gaming Greats Multipack can be summed up thusly: bittersweet. And it's bittersweet on a couple of levels, but let's start off with the sweet. These figures are sourced from the sequel to the wildly popular Jedi Fallen Order video game. Jedi Survivor is not scheduled for release until 2023, but this 3-pack is supposed to come out at the end of this year. It's pretty cool to be getting product in advance of the property, just like the good old days. It's also great to be getting the VC18 - MagnaGuard sculpt back out there. It's a figure that could honestly use a straight up repack, and that's part of the "bitter" side, but we'll get to that later. Finally, it's great to get a new take in the KX-Series Imperial Security Droid. This is one of the best received new media designs, and now we get a legit canonical tweak to it. I'll take that.

The bitter comes in three forms, and I will address them non-sequentially because it's my article and I can do what I want! Not even Mr. Nomadscout, and his magical editing powers can stop me.

Bitter 3:

It's the elephant in the room. These will be the 3rd, 4th and 5th figures sourced from the Fallen Order game series, BUT WE STILL DON'T HAVE THE PROTAGONIST FROM THE SERIES! It's time to fish or cut bait, Hasbro.

Bitter 1:

Getting a non-movie based MagnaGuard is the definition of bittersweet. I love Fallen Order, and I love video game figures, but there are legitimate Revenge of the Sith-based repaints of the MagnaGuard figure that I wish were announced before this more obscurely sourced version. Specifically, I want the "blue MagnaGuard".

Bitter 2:

That dank farrik, diaper-wearing Biker Scout mold. I officially hate this mold now, and seeing the kickstand leg in the promotional images cemented it. Hasbro, this mold is not up to snuff for 2022 (or 2021). The Biker Scout needs the modern treatment, and I'm convinced we're never going to see it.
