Congratulations to the the mysterious ladies anchoring the back left corner of the bar in Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina. I have to say that I'm personally a little shocked that the Tonnika Sisters won in a field with characters like Episode IV Luke Skywalker and Baylan Skoll, but this has been a longstanding wishlist item in the community. It's #TimeForTonnika. Hopefully, this gives the Hasbro Star Wars brand team some extra ammo with whomever they have to negotiate to finally get these iconic Cantina Patrons into the line.
Now that the voting is over, we can finally share some of the data. John Miko put together an incredible Tableau dashboard:
There is a lot that you can do with that dashboard, so spend some time with it. You have drill down and filtering options across the top. If you hover over the bar graph of any character, you will get additional information. Finally, you can change the dimensions of the grouping graphs towards the bottom. John really did a bang up job here. I think one of the more interesting things to do is to watch the source breakdowns change as you change the Rank Parameter at the top. Again, spend some time with this tool if this is the type of thing that interests you.
The reason why this is not an exact top 150 is twofold. First, there was a tie at 150, so that brought in some extra submissions. Second, after a manual audit of the data, I found an additional nine characters that had more nominations than our initial cutoff (which was 18 nominations). That dashboard does not track all of the submissions. We cut it off at 150(ish) because that's where I had confidence that any errors I made in data cleaning would not have a statistical impact. I actually cleaned over 300 unique names, and there are easily an additional 50 unique characters that got between 5 and 15 nominations that I didn't clean.
I hope you had fun with this event. I know I did. And I wanted to say thank you to John, Tim and Jayson for coordinating this, and thank you to Tyler, Lewis, and Victoria for coming on as guest hosts. Finally, I wanted to offer a heartfelt thank you to all of you for participating. The engagement was more than any of us expected.
We learned a lot during this process to improve the second Last Figure Standing which will launch in September 2024.
