I loved the Obi-Wan Kebobi series despite the writing occasionally steering the tire directly toward pot holes that were completely avoidable. If the show were weaker, this would have been damning. Fortunately the highs of the show merely make them a puzzling curiosity, and none of those highs reached the stratosphere of the final Vader and Obi-Wan conflict. In an action series, it's noteworthy when an exchange of dialog is the most memorable aspect. Vader's verbal sparring with his former Jedi Master is just that for me in the Obi-Wan series.
Despite being defeated in combat, Vader's self-satisfied grin peeking form beneath the helmet as he taunts Obi-Wan about his ultimate failure was perfect. Obi-Wan won the test of skills, but Vader won the war of words. I would love to see the epic (so I'm told) VC241 Darth Vader figure slightly retooled to make a battle damaged Vader to recreate this scene. Whereas all new tooling for a store exclusive is straight out, some slight retooling seems to be fair game these days. The upcoming Walmart O96 wave has its fair share minor tooling. A Battle Damaged Vader seems like the perfect fodder for a store exclusive. It doesn't need to, and nor should it, take up a slot in main line.
Of course if this does come to pass, it wouldn't be the first Battle Damaged Darth Vader in the modern line:
That Thirtieth Anniversary Collection (TAC) 08-12 Battle Damaged Darth Vader is one of my favorite non-TVC figures, so I may be a little biased. I'm a Vader obsessive and other than variances in the costume between the various appearances, it's hard to get a new take on the ultimate villain. I think an Obi-Wan Kebobi Battle Damaged Vader would be a fresh expression for both the figure and card art.
