I Am Very Thankful For HasLab As A Collector

I think we all need to take today to decompress from the latest HasLab campaign. This one was hard fought, and we'll talk more about it later (probably tomorrow). I can't write about it now because at the time of this writing, the campaign has not yet ended. In fact, it just funded a moment ago. How far will it go? Did Coleman unlock? I hope so. I could use a tasty snack. [Editor's note: It did not.] Instead, I just wanted to write about HasLabs in general. As with most things in life, not everyone is on the same page. Some fans are opposed to the concept. Some accept it begrudgingly, and others think it's the most exciting part of the year on the nerd calendar. I'm in the last camp.

HasLab is responsible for some of the best things in my collection. It's brought me a Barge, a POTF Yak Face with a coin, the Tonnika Sisters, and the Cantina. Aside from maybe the POTF Yak Face, none of those things would exist in my collection without the crowdfunding platform. I can't call the Razor Crest a "dream" for me because it wasn't something that had me pining for years. I guess the "dream" part comes from the fact that we didn't have to wait years for it. Regardless, it's quite literally a "centerpiece" of my collection. My Mandalorian shelf sits dead center in my display.

The Ghost was not a personal dream project of mine, but it was for a lot of fans, so I'm thrilled that HasLab gave it a chance to become reality. If you recall correctly, I said it was the last project that I was confident would back easily. Now a proper Gunship is coming to our collections. I was so disappointed with the 2002 mold that I currently don't own one (I sold mine off). So now I have a new and amazing anchor to my Geonosis display. I know some collectors were disappointed that it was a "redo", but to be honest, we're kind of running out of big-ticket items that don't stray too far into "Gulp" territory. After the Death Star, I'm not sure what has the near universal appeal in the community that it will require.

So I'm happy this platform exists, and I can't wait to see what's next (even if I'm not really looking forward to the campaign itself). I know there's an argument about the ethics of an eleven billion dollar market cap company using crowd funding, but I'm not interested in winning that moral debate because it would conclude with HasLab going away. No thanks. I'd rather be happy than "right", and the offerings from HasLab make me very happy. I'm praying that the murder globe is coming, but maybe a figure pack could come first just to spare my wallet for a year. Please note: By me referring to the Death Star as a "globe" does NOT mean I want a spherical play set, or even one with curved walls. I'm not a psychopath. The Death Star is about the interior, and there are no curved walls on the interior rooms.
