Next week, I will be enjoying some well anticipated time off. This year has been challenging when it comes to the demands on my time. You may have noticed that when our goal of daily original content (weekdays only) has fallen short. But if you're reading this, know that I appreciate the mother loving heck out of you. I truly mean that. Bantha Skull's patron saint, Kevin smith, has an expression. He says that no matter the budget or talent, Kevin Smith does Kevin Smith business. He's movies all did roughly the same business at the box office.
I coopted that phrase, and would often say that Bantha Skull does Bantha Skull business. No matter how much content we provided, or whatever scoops we may get, our traffic stayed the same. This was true for over the first decade of our existence. It was good traffic. I wasn't displeased in the least, but it plateaued. We'd have the occasional spike, such as the time we were Tweeted by Mr. Jon Favreau, but water would always seek it's level. Then something changed. Something wonderful. One day our traffic nearly doubled. I don't know why, but I'm not complaining. I think this is remarkable because we focus solely on the supposedly less popular 3.75" line. This is why I appreciate the heck out of daily users.
There's a catch to this. When circumstances prevent us from providing daily original content, we shed users like a border collie in July. You all come back thankfully, but it takes a beat. This is my way of saying to stick with us next week if the content isn't consistent. Mr. Nomadscout will assuredly post a review on Monday. He won't tell me what it is, but I'm hoping it's the butt button Mace Windu from 2002. I'm spending the week at the resplendent Old Orchard Beach, ME. If you're in the area, I will meet you at the pier for a beer.
I will have my laptop with me, so I will provide at least some content Tuesday through Friday. It might not be every day, but don't abandon us. The most difficult thing about providing content is inspiration. So throw out ideas in the comments for articles you'd like to see us tackle.
