The Vintage Collection relaunched in 2018 to much fanfare (and trepidation over a repack dominated launch wave). At the last Livestream event, we got a peek into the early 2022 product. That's the fifth year of production, and we have seen exactly one Prequel Trilogy figure added to the Vintage Collection lineup, and that was a repack (VC145 - 41st Elite Corps Clone Trooper). Meanwhile, plenty of PT-adjacent figures have been released and/or announced. Figures from The Clone Wars, Bad Batch, and the Clone Wars Micro-Series have been added to TVC 2.0.
The absence of new Prequel Trilogy figures in TVC is conspicuous. Hasbro, do you think that TVC fans don't want them because of how badly the 2012 Phantom Menace launch wave performed? If so, that's a frustrating take away. There were too many reasons for the failure of that wave to list here, but the source was not one of them. TVC fans snapped up many TVC 1.0 Revenge of the Sith and Attack of the Clones figures. They're some of the most valuable TVC 1.0 on the secondary market. I'm not sure what would give the impression that PT figures are unwanted in TVC.
Hasbro, you said that the OT is important to TVC fans. This is true. So is the PT, new media, video games, expanded universe, etc., etc. For the most part, we support everything. The one exception is questionable ST product, but that puts us in the exclusive club called EVERYONE! This is the exact reason why "the campaign" was strictly for more without naming specific product. There is so much we want, it's pointless to get specific until we're back to seven or eight waves per year.
To be clear, we're not talking about more PT repacks. We want new sculpts. Hasbro, do you want to repeat the success of the recent Episode VI Boba Fett? Give us an all new Episode I Darth Maul with the same quality. The sales will be insane. You will see plenty of moaning about this suggestion in the comments. Don't listen to them. They said the same thing about that Boba Fett every time I suggested it. Another safe bet is our oft requested update to Ki-Adi-Mundi. It's hard to believe the best version of the Jedi Master who spanned three movies plus The Clone Wars is saddled with swivel elbows.
We know you like to dip a toe into the risk waters before jumping in head first. So, try this. Tell Amazon to pick up an exclusive 4-pack of these repacks, and see how it goes:
