So yesterday I posted about the conspicuous lack of a livestream announcement in advance of the rapidly approaching preorder event next Wednesday. Then a few hours later, Hasbro Pulse announced a livestream for next Tuesday across all their socials.
I don't know what's going on here, but I don't like it. I'm going to keep an eye out for any shenanigans around these parts.
Joking aside, I usually do these "what do you hope to see" articles the day before the livestream, but I have a vague assurance that the return of Mr. Nomadscout is imminent which means a Monday figure review is possible. Apparently now that Belichick's signing with Atlanta is all but guaranteed, Mr. Nomadscout can cease his efforts to recruit him to the Giants, and return to Bantha Skull. Okay, I guess the jokes weren't quite done. Also, I don't really want to root for the Falcons next year, so I hope I managed to jinx the Belichick signing.
So what do I hope to see? I have to assume the current pipeline backlog will be mined for the actual reveals. From that backlog, there's only one thing I'm dying to see:
It feels like it's been years since the Vintage Collection Princess Leia was pipelined. I have a little suspicion there is a lot riding on this reveal. The retail success of that Leia might determine the future of the #MakeTheMains campaign. If Emily and team nail this one, I will be preordering two cases worth on day one (even though I don't need nearly as many Episode IV Princess Leia figures as Episode IV Luke Skywalker figures). She's the princess. I want lots. I really hope this is revealed next week.
As far as new pipelines, it would be nice to find out what this year's play set is. I feel like we knew about 2023's Endor Bunker well before 2022 came to a close. Is it weird that we've heard nary a word about a playset for 2024? Is there one coming? If not, can we get a creature? I'd like a Dewback in TVC please.
