Happy New Year, everyone! We wish you and yours all the best heading into 2024. With that out of the way, we need to discuss the Borneo elephant in the room: we're probably going to have little to cover for the first quarter of the year in terms of the Vintage Collection (which is pretty much all we cover). As we wrote about HERE, we're probably looking at April until the next Vintage Collection product drops for us to review. Based on the fact that there will be new Star Wars preorders at Entertainment Earth on the 24th of this month, we can probably expect a livestream on the 23rd, so we'll have that. But that doesn't fill three months worth of content. I can only write so much about elbow articulation and the perplexing lack of Snowtroopers.
So where does that leave us? Typically, we like to use these times to fill in the backlog of our reviews. When we do this, it's also typical that we'll run through an entire older line roughly in sequence. So far, we've done this for The Legacy Collection (Red and Blue), the Thirtieth Anniversary Collection, and the Saga Collection. If you're working backwards chronologically, you know that the massive Revenge of the Sith line would be up next, and if you watched our livestream with the Middle Aged Kiwi Man, you know that we recently went through the process of acquiring carded samples of the entire "ROTS" line. So we could use that for content, but there's a rub. I no longer have most of those figures loose. Bret would have to photograph and review them. Unfortunately, he's busier that the busy business woman who's too busy to realize her life is missing something. At his current rate of output, we'd be wrapping up the coverage in time for the 50th anniversary of A New Hope. That won't work. Plus, at this point, it's probably best to save that content for 2025 and the 20th anniversary of Revenge of the Sith.
Bret's too busy. I can't write daily opinion pieces. And we don't have an older line we can cover at this time. So where does that leave us. Well, one easy filler is to increase the frequency of our Bantha Skull Q&A's, which are always fun to do. The other option, and the one I'm going to enact, is a shotgunning of older figures that we haven't reviewed yet. One day we may be looking at a POTF2 figure, and the next day it could be a VOTC figure. Also, we tend to have smaller galleries for these older, and often obsolete figures. I hope you all can tolerate this. I think it will be fun, and it will let us do some collective reminiscing until we finally get that update to Count Dooku sometime this spring.
