Happy Labor Day to all our American readers, and happy ordinary Monday to those of you in the elsewhere parts of the globe. Labor Day is the day where we recognize the American worker by not working. It's also the unofficial last day of summer, even though that doesn't come for three more weeks according to the laws of celestial mechanics. It also marks the last weekend without NFL Football for the next five months. That's the only acceptable trade off for the fact that it will soon be getting dark at 4:00 PM here in the northeastern part of the lower 48.
I had been planning to post the photos from the incredible Red Five Toys Vintage Collection LAAT/i Gunship HasLab event, but one of our very own counseled me against it. Your friend and mine, Rum Sleg from the comments section, pointed out that it might not have the best impact falling on a day when many of our readers will be getting in the final cookout of the summer. So that article will be dropping tomorrow to help you through your first workday after the long weekend. I took a ton of pics. Hopefully once I weed out all of the out of focus ones, I'll still have a solid twenty to show you.
I will tell you that photos do not do this Gunship justice. If you back it, you will cherish it as a centerpiece of your collection. After seeing it in person (especially with the 2002 sculpt for comparison), the biggest myth circulating among the naysayers in the community is "I already have a TVC Gunship". No, sir, you don't. You have a child's toy that was made for an entirely different audience and sensibility. Just because it was repacked in TVC packaging, doesn't mean it's TVC. The POTF2 2-1B has been repackaged in TVC, but I don't think anyone would argue that it shouldn't get a modern upgrade. Also upon seeing it in the "one wing" configuration, I'm supremely confident that I can easily integrate it into my collection.
I will leave you with one preview (that I also posted to my Instagram):

Yes, most of those figures are Tyler's (but one of mine did sneak in there).
One last bit of business to conclude our longest holiday article ever, some of you may have read my problems with the ceiling pieces for the alcoves not fitting flush on the Cantina. I determined the problem was that the ceiling pieces were more curved than the guides on the walls on which they were intended to rest. If you run into this problem, I was mostly able to remedy it by taking a blow dryer to the parts to soften them, and stretch them out a little. There's some plastic memory to combat, however, so I had to place a light weight on them as they cooled, and repeat the process a few times. I hope this helps.
