One of the biggest announcements during Wednesday's Fan First livestream was the Stormtrooper 4-pack. The advent of an army builder multipack, that allows collectors to acquire multiple troopers at a cost savings, is exciting beyond just the initial offering of three Stormtroopers plus a Stormtrooper Commander. This platform has a lot of potential, and here are some that I would like to see.
Clone Trooper Officers
This one is a natural, and it would be an update to the Entertainment Earth Clone Trooper Troop Builder 4pk. This would allow Hasbro to give us the Clone Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain and Commander all at once. For you internet nitpicks, sergeants are noncommissioned officers, so the title applies. We already have the Lieutenant (blue) and Sergeant (green) updated to the VC45 Clonetrooper mold, but we still need the Captain (red) and Commander (yellow). I want those last two for consistency's sake, but I don't want them taking up a previous slot in the main line. This is the perfect way to get to them.
Rebel Fleet Troopers
I've really wanted to army build this figure, but Hasbro has made it exceedingly hard. The TVC 1.0 version was released right when the retail pipeline was starting to slow to a trickle, and buying individual figures online wasn't as practical as it is today. For the TVC 2.0 release, it was only packed in with the Tantive IV hallway. This is actually the one that I would want the most. I have no idea if it would be possible, but it would be amazing if Hasbro could cost out some new heads so we don't have to army build a bunch of Pello Scrambas figures. If Hasbro wants to get the A+++++ from Ms. Shields, they could also add in the frustratingly missing holster.
Rebel Commandos
The Battle of Endor is the ultimate army builder scene from the Original Trilogy. You have Stormtroopers, Scout Troopers, Imperial Navy Commanders, and these Rebel Commandos. The first three have been easily army built over time, but not so much for the latter. As with the Rebel Fleet Trooper, mixing in some new head sculpts would be amazing. Hasbro could already mix in the multiple ethnicities from the running change to the original release. I would be thrilled to get my hands on four of these in one pack.
Dark Troopers
By a show of hands, how many of you got all the Dark Troopers you wanted when this figure was originally released at the tail end of the Legacy Collection? Put your hand down, you stinking liar! No one got their fill of this figure. Most were lucky to find one. One thing about troop builder packs is that they can become stale over time. Nothing would inject some freshness like an Expanded Universe video game army builder pack with a tangental tie in to The Mandalorian. How cool would it be if the Gaming Greats sub line had its own entry in this series?
