So much of the greatness of the Original Trilogy appears to be serendipitous. One example is the consensus best villain in cinematic history was almost killed off. Lucas considered Vader more of a secondary villain, which is why Cushing was brought in as Tarkin. When planning a potential lower budget sequel in case "Star Wars" wasn't a hit, Lucas spitballed having Luke kill Vader in the second chapter. Thankfully it was a hit, the world fell in love with Vader, and a cultural icon was born. If you're interested in learning more about this, there is a full article on the subject HERE.
Another example is Boba Fett. That iconic armor wasn't meant to be añuû bounty hunter. McQuarrie's concept and that white prototype armor were meant to be a "Super Stormtrooper". The plan was to make one hundred sets of the armor for The Empire Strikes Back, but the budget ultimately didn't allow for it. Not wanting to waste the prototype, Lucas decided to use it for "one of the bounty hunter characters.” Joe Johnston went to work giving the white prototype armor the familiar multicolor paint scheme, and the rest is history.
So, the Super Stormtrooper concept gave rise to Boba Fett. Boba Fett's back story then gave birth to the Mandalorian people, and thus, ultimately, the show The Mandalorian. Yesterday's episode, The Spies, appears to complete the circle and reintroduce the concept of Super Stormtroopers with the Beskar-wearing Imperial Supercommandos:
