First, I wanted to say that I'm not trying to usurp Jimmy as the “comic book guy.” He's still the one who will be combing the Sweet Tarts out of his beard, but I wanted to get this news out now for those of you who want to experience this comic event as it's unfolding. First, as a primer, Darth Vader (2020) #1 starts off with a retelling of the final moments of The Empire Strikes Back as Vader reveals Luke's parentage on the gantry in Cloud City. The comic jumps you into the mind of Vader during this encounter via "thought balloons", and it's very well done. This sets Vader off on a quest to retrace Luke's upbringing. This includes several flash backs to events of the PT and it's also very well done both from a visual storytelling stand point, as well as from an emotional one.
Vader's quest leads him to Padmé's apartment on Coruscant to find a scout transmitter sending a signal to the planet Vendaxa where Vader travels next to find out to whom the signal is being sent. That is none other than...

Padmé's alive!
The comic concludes with the impression that Padmé is still alive having survived the twin births of Luke and Leia. Common sense dictates that this is probably your standard comic book trickery. We saw Kylo Ren have a conversation with a Force memory of Han Solo in The Rise of Skywalker. One of the very weird plot twists of The Phantom Menace was that Padmé was surrounded by look-alike body guards. It was a weird plot twist because it relied on the audience not knowing that Natalie Portman was Natalie Portman.
Those are two of the likeliest explanations for this cliff hanger (with my money being on the latter), but if Padmé is still alive, this changes everything (like finding out your first name is really Justin).
