Considering My Role At Bantha Skull

I love this site. I love this community in general, and I really love the community we've fostered here. But the "daily original content" game is a cruel mistress, and it's been crushing me for a while. In a perfect world, I would do Bantha Skull work full time, but that doesn't pay the bills. I need to keep a full time job, as does Mr. Nomadscout. I actually rather like my full time job, but it takes up the majority of my time on weekdays. It's not a job that suffers half measures either. It requires my full attention and effort when we are in the meat of what is called a development "sprint.” The earliest I typically end my work day is 6PM, after which I have at least a half hour of household things to do. This means, at the absolute earliest, I sit down to write an article at 6:30 PM.

The process of writing an article takes me anywhere from 1 to 3 hours (sometimes even longer), but that's if I'm inspired to write. Sometimes I stare at the proverbial blank page for hours before that process even starts. This often leaves me going from work to Bantha Skull to bed, and it's been wearing on me for months. I don't want Bantha Skull to be a chore, but it's felt that way for a while. The "Make the Mains" for Revenge of the Sith is overdue, but when I quickly realized it would be the biggest list out the first six movies, I didn't feel like putting in the hours. I will get to it eventually, but I need to feel the inspiration to do so.

The easiest answer is to give up the "daily original content" ghost, but even one day of missed content has an adverse impact on our traffic. Without traffic, we lose whatever status as influencers that we have. I'm not trying to throw a pity party here, nor am I fishing for sympathy. I honestly mean it when I say that Bantha Skull has given back to me tremendously. While I haven't made a decision yet, I'm only writing this to explain that I don't think I can give as much effort to Bantha Skull going forward. If that does come to pass, I just hope that you stick with us.
