Action Figure Photography S3:E4:  maxmaldini - Cesar Maldonado

Cesar Maldonado can be found on Instagram as maxmaldini. He allowed us to share some of his photography and a bit about himself here.

Hi, my name is Cesar Maldonado, I’ve been a Star Wars fan from the day my parents took to me to the theater to watch the original Star Wars film A New Hope. Back then I was only a three years old.

I am from Mexico City, and by the time Lili Ledy started offering the 3.75” Star Wars action figures, I started to get them for Christmas. I still have those toys but they are far from mint as I played with them throughout my childhood. As a teenager, I stopped obtaining figures, but I kept what I had.





















Back in 2010 I started collecting again when I saw The Vintage Collection in stores, the old style cardback and the articulation on those figures was too much to resist.

It wasn’t until two years ago that I started doing toy photography. I had finished working on a Yavin Hangar diorama. I took pictures of it and posted them on a few facebook groups.





















I had no photography background so my initial work was no good, but I just kept on trying different things and getting inspired from toy photographers that I admire. I still have much to learn, of course, but I enjoy setting up toys and doing shots as well as editing them.





















I’ve been posting my work on Instagram as @maxmaldini for two years now and I’ve had the opportunity to interact and meet great people.

I like both 3.75 and 6 inch figures but the first will always be my favorite, I have so many good memories and had so much fun with them as a child.
