That's a wrap on Skeleton Crew. Episode 8 finished up the season, and probably the series. So let's see what we have for potential figures and toys.

I delayed this a day (normally we've had this feature on Thursdays) to give everyone another 24 hours to finish the show. That said, I know there are still a few who haven't had the chance to see it and are hoping to remain spoiler free. As such, enter with caution. I won't be going into all the plot details, but some of the main beats will be covered as we discuss different characters and toys from the episode. I'll try to keep it to a minimum. Comments, on the other hand, are free to discuss the show.

Episode 8: The Real Good Guys

The episode picks up right where Episode 7 leaves off, with everyone together on At Attin. Jod has essentially infiltrated this peaceful colony, and is plotting his next move to seize the fortune found inside the mint. The kids and their parents are initially held at bay, but a series of events kicks into motion a heroic attempt to save everyone from the pirate invasion. The episode unfolds and is a lot of fun, so let's see what we got out of it as far as potential toys.

Very little in the way of figures, honestly. I don't believe there's really any new character that we haven't seen before. If we ever got the Owl lady, there's an opportunity for a hologram variant here. And there's a couple of new pilots we see at the end, but I believe that's about it. There are some neat things for vehicles and environments, however. The kids (and others) end up in a high speed speeder bike chase, so I think this puts a nice fine point on the growing need for the kids as figures, and they could have their bikes as well.

The pirates also are seen on a new kind of skiff, several of which they use to invade the town. I think most of us are in agreement that we need pirates, and lots of them. So the skiffs would be a nice way to give them something from which to raid and plunder. We also see At Attin's big cannon that was foreshadowed on At Achrann, and we get a look inside the Supervisor tower - where we actually meet the Supervisor. Very little of this is toy-worthy, however.

By the time the episode was over, there wasn't much new for toys, but I definitely enjoyed the series. If it ended, I'm happy with it as it is. If it had a season 2, or if some of the characters resurfaced in other media, I'd be happy with that as well.

So here's a recap of some of the things we discussed as toy candidates from the series as a whole. I've broken it down into three groups, as far as priority is concerned. If enough figures from the top tier are made, than it might open the door for interest in items from the other tiers. As was discussed at length in Chris's article yesterday about some TVC peg warmers, it seems the consensus is that Hasbro has a narrow window to make new media toys for TVC. Understandably, Hasbro doesn't seem interested in risky ventures for TVC right at the launch of a new series. It looks like Sixers, which have more wiggle room for individual figure failures, acts as a test, and if successful, TVC versions could follow. But if Hasbro waits too long, then the moment passes, and people forget they were interested in the first place (i.e. Cobb Vanth).

Again - I think we all realize most of these will never happen because it's not 2009. (BUT THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN, SO HAVE FUN, YOU JERKS!)

So here we go:

Top Tier:
SM-33
Brutus
Vane
Glerb (with flight helmet)
Captain Silvo
Wim
Neel
Fern
KB
At Attin Security Droids
Pirate Snub Fighters - [Forgot to put this in the original post]

If we get the top tier figures, then maybe some of these could follow up:
Onyx Cinder
Pirate Skiffs
Speeder bikes for the kids
Kh'ymm
Pokkit
X-Wing Pilots
More Pirates!
Guntar
Beef
Koma

About a zero point zero chance, but it's fun to think about:
Wendle
Fara
Kh'ymm (hologram)
Melna (Theelin)
CZ Droid
Food patron on Borgo
Food vendor on Borgo
Tattoo 8d8 droid from Borgo
Teek
Kyuzo guards (Zuvio)
Stuff from At Achrann (kid soldier episode)
Spa Concierge
Spa security guards
Spa patrons
Cthallops
Trash Crabs
X-Wings with Ion Cannons
B-Wings [added due to suggestions from comments]
Mama Crab
More Pirates!
Benjar Pranic (Alfred Molina)
Snobbius Snee
Chaelt
Gran with Eyepatch

So, now that the season (series?) is over, what did you think? Did watching the full series make you want any of the characters as figures more than when you first saw them? Or have you already moved on (Brutus? Who the heck is Brutus?)
