Force Link App Finally Updated

But is it fully operational? Personally, I'm was having some difficulty upgrading the gauntlet. After updating the app (I did mine via the Apple Store), it will tell you to keep your Force Link 2.0 Gauntlet near your phone or tablet. Once recognized, you pair the gauntlet as you would any other bluetooth device. The app instructs you to keep the gauntlet within 15 feet, and then warns you that it may take an hour to upgrade it. Right off the bat, you know this is going to be frustrating. Prior to the firmware upgrade, the app tells you to tap the gauntlet twice to get the upgrade moving, but I found this to be hit or miss - mostly miss. It took a few app reboots, many taps, and long waits before the upgrade began (and an hour is about right). Unfortunately, the upgrade would frequently time out. Fortunately, you didn't lose your progress, so at least it would resume where it left off. The % progress indicator ticked by slowly. Sometimes after a timeout, I would still have to reboot the app, and mindlessly tap the gauntlet many times until it would reconnect. After finally reaching 100%, there were then 2 more firmware updates required, although they were much faster than the first.

Finally, following the upgrade, the Force Link 2.0 figures sounded off as expected. There is also a collecting part of the app, which seems like you should be able to indicate that you own certain toys. However, I couldn't figure out how to get this to work. The app kept asking for camera access (presumably for recognition of the toy, or some augmented reality gimmick), but it would crash each time I tried to grant permission. It looked like adding toys to your inventory would unlock additional sounds from the figures, but until the crashing is addressed, I can't verify that.

So, in the meantime, your Force Link 2.0 toys should work now. Here is a comprehensive list of the sounds that accompany each toy. And if you're curious, it's apparent the disguised voice of Enfys Nest is an attempt to mask the character's gender, but you can still tell.
