In 1980, Kenner released the amazing Rebel Armored Snowspeeder featuring an other worldly pink sky on the box art. This "Pink Box" version was released in the Vintage Collection as a Target exclusive, while the vehicle was contemporaneously released as a general item in the "Shadows of the Darkside (SOTDS) packaging. In 1982, Kenner re-released the Snowspeeder in the "Blue Box" packaging seen to the right of the image above.
Even loose, that 2010 Snowspeeder commands north of $50 on the secondary market. It shows that ten years later there is still demand for that particular mold of the Snowspeeder. Well what else is going on 10 years later? It's the 40th Anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back of course (to be read in Kitster’s voice).
But wait! There's more! As most are aware, the Snowspeeder we received in 2010 is specifically Luke's Snowspeeder with gray markings. Hasbro never released that updated Snowspeeder mold with the standard Rogue Squadron orange markings, even though that is the more common seen on-screen (see below). Everyone else not named "Luke" flies a Snowspeeder with the orange designations.
Taking all the factors into account, Bantha Skull believes this is a home run pitch. The timing is right with the 40th Anniversary. There is a legitimate vintage Kenner packaging variant that could be leveraged. There is a legitimate on-screen repaint that could be made, and all the tooling already exists. It would get the vehicle back out to fans who missed it the first time. In-box collectors who already own the 2010 release would have a reason to get the re-release. Loose collectors would have a reason to get the re-release since it would represent a different vehicle (don't act like you don't own several versions of the Jedi Starfighter). It's rare when a repaint can check so many boxes.

The snowspeeder to the left was the one released in 2010. There is a legitimate need for a repaint to match the snowspeeder on the right of the frame.
