Weekly Round up take 2!

Posted by Dre on 08/08/14 at 02:00 PM Category: Darth Dre’s Off Topic Roundup

Good afternoon people.  I’m back again with a weekly round up of all things in the nerd world.

Last week was a big week for us.  SDCC gave us so much new to look forward to that I may have forgotten where I put my pants.  This week was a little lighter, but there was still plenty to talk about.

The biggest news in the movie world was Warner Brothers moving up the release date of Batman Vs. Superman to March 2016.  Was this an effort to not compete with the next Captain America movie?  Or is WB looking to get their hooks into a franchise again?  The world may never know.

Gaurdians of the Galaxy did ok over the weekend.  It only made $94 million, coming in just short of Captain America 2.  I think this Marvel Studio might be around for a while.

Remember that Deadpool test footage from SDCC?  Well there is a viral campaign to get it out of the developmental dumpster.  Be a doll and retweet it.

The Spider-Man universe seems to be getting bigger.  On top of the Sinister Six movie slated for November 2016, Sony has made mention of a Venon Carnage movie to be out later on as well.  I’m still down for Jim Carrey as Cletus Cassidy.

Avengers 2 wrapped production and now moves to post production.  Is it May 2015 yet?

Did anyone know they were filming a new Terminator movie?  Me either.  I knew they had cast it…but started filming?  Nah.  Oh, they wrapped filming on that on too.  The official name is Terminator: Genisys.  Hear that?  That’s the collective fan base moaning all at the same time.

We got some news on the upcoming Netflix Daredevil movie.  We got our first glimpse of Charlie Cox in character.  I have to say he looks good.  We also caught wind of who Rosario Dawson might be playing.  A call sheet has her listed as Claire T.  Of course, call sheets are known to be cryptic when concerning the characters, so there’s that.

Speaking of Marvel TV shows, remember that creepy bloodied, scabby guy in the finale of Agents of Shield? Twin Peaks star Kyle MacLachlan has signed on to the role.  Gross.

Catch up on all the movie and TV news in our forums.

There wasn’t much toy news this week.  Most of that was covered last week though.

The biggest thing to go down was the reset at Target.  While most people were hoping for The Black Series Jabba The Hutt or Biker Scout with Speederbike, I was looking for the latest from Bbi’s Elite Forces line.  Six single carded figures and a five pack were released along side a slew of vehicles, all aimed at the younger crowd.

The Mega Bloks Call of Duty line has some new releases including the awesome Odin Space Station, and the Blackhawk helicopter. (drool)  I’m currently looking for the single figure Juggernaut pack.  This one, along with a camouflaged sniper are a deal at $7.

Mega Bloks also showed off the first minifigure in their Assassin’s Creed line.  If I wasn’t worried about a divorce I’d start collecting these.

With the reset, people are finding the Marvel Infinite Series 3.75” line up.  Not me though.  My store is still sitting on two Marvel Universe Jubilee’s.  Ah well.  I’m more or less caught up as it is.

McFarlane Toys released some hi-res pics of the Series 6 TV line up in their Walking Dead line.  I guess I’ll settle for a TV Abraham for now. (shakes fist)

What did I tell you?  Toy news was pretty light this week.  Check out all the toys I didn’t cover in our forums.

That’s it for now.  See ya in the pit.
