This is a follow up to the report we linked to at Yakface this morning. The first item to discuss is that we have confirmed with our source that solicitations are indeed being taken for the following 6” figures:
• Bossk
• Han Solo in Stormtrooper Disguise
• C-3PO
The exact case ratio for this assortment is unknown.
The second item is that the ability to order Boba Fett and Stormtrooper cases is only part of the story. Individual wholesale orders for almost ALL 6” Black series figures can be placed. It is not just limited to Boba Fett and the Stormtrooper. The only figures excluded from the list are the earliest 6” figures from waves 1 and 2 that were not carried forward. Also odd is that both Darth Vader and Jedi Luke Skywalker are not available for individual order at this time despite the fact that Chewbacca from the same assortment is. Lastly, this solicitation comes from a certain carbon-based distributor you might be aware of. It is not known if the individual figure order pattern will be available from all wholesalers or not, but safe money says that it will be.
Update: According to a Diamond rep, they will be the only ones offering the individual figures at this time, but other wholesalers may pick up the solid figure assortments later.
And one last interesting tidbit is that the individual figure order is not specific to Star Wars. Other 6” Hasbro product can be ordered individually including the difficult to find Black Widow figure from the Captain America: Winter Soldier line.
Now for many of us, this news is bitter sweet. It definitely feels like Hasbro is putting all their collector eggs in the 6” line basket. They have clearly figured out how to properly distribute a collector oriented product through retail chains with this announcement, but it also feels like they are simultaneously abandoning the 3.75” line.
UPDATE: Visual Confirmation from Jedi Temple Archives
