We here at the Bantha Skull Flying Circus and Emporium are very pro Fan Channel. We are also pro repack. In fact, I would like to make the following statement that may potentially hurt feelings:
If you are against repacks, you are a selfish collector.
If you are among the "no more repacks" crowd you are basically saying, "Screw every single collector who joined the hobby after me." No fan driven property can succeed without constantly attracting new customers. How many people buying Amazing Spider-Man comics today also bought Amazing Fantasy #15 at the newsstand? My guess is zero. Because you're being anti new customer, you are also saying screw the line as a result. It's all about you, and the over all success and health of line be damned. Sorry for straying into "When Keeping it Real Goes Wrong" territory, but them's the facts. We should be welcoming the nouveau Vintage Collection fans with open arms, and encouraging things that make this wonderful hobby as accessible to them as possible.
That is why we support Fan Channel. Its stated (read: paraphrased by me) mission is to make key characters / important figures available to new fans and markets that may have missed them during their initial Vintage Collection release. We're not opposed to this at all. We only take exception when Hasbro strays from this with questionable choices like Flipper Padmé and Paisley Prince Anakin.
With that in mind, why in h-e-double hockey sticks hasn't VC12 - Darth Sidious been included in Fan Channel yet? The platform is for key characters, right? Is there any more key character than the archvillain of the entire Skywalker Saga? It's for figures to which fans have had limited access. VC12 - Darth Sidious was only released on one case and never carried forward. The same can be said for VC02 - Leia (Hoth Outfit) and VC06 - C-3PO, both of which have already been included in Fan Channel.
If you're a reader of this site, chances are you're a hard core collector, so you already know that VC12 goes for over $30 loose and over $90 carded. Let's do our newfound brothers and sisters in the hobby a solid and support VC12 - Darth Sidious for Fan Channel.
