The Prequel Resurgence Is Probably Going To Be Missing a Key Member

I have a love-hate relationship with the Prequel Trilogy. That's probably a little strong. It's more like a love-don't love relationship. There are parts of the PT that I will stop and watch whenever they are on for as long as I'm drawing air. The pod race, the Duel of the Fates, the Coruscant speeder chase, everything on Tipoca City culminating with the Kenobi-Jango fight, the Kenobi-Grievous battle, Order 66. Then there's the dank farrik CGI pear, fart camels, CGI land-sea cows, and you-know-who. On balance I would say I net out slightly pro-PT, and I'm certainly VERY pro-PT when it comes to The Vintage Collection. We desperately need some new PT sculpts in TVC, but that's not the point of this article.

I am not at all opposed to PT characters or PT-era entertainment. The culmination of The Clone Wars season 7 is art. I am looking forward to Hayden Christensen reprising his roles of Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader in the upcoming Obi-Wan series especially since I think he's better than his performances in Episodes II and III. What I really like is how the long form of the Disney+ series could be utilized to fix some of the warts from the PT. One of those issues is the underutilization of Qui-Gon Jinn (the same sin has been fixed for Darth Maul). Obviously, I'm not talking about Qui-Gon being resurrected from his cremation, but Force-ghost appearances and flashbacks. Sadly, this is likely never to happen.

Per Comicbook.com, Liam Neeson would like to reprise the role of Qui-Gon, but would likely hold out for a film role. They write:

... [Neeson] noted that he'd like to reprise the role, though would rather do so on the big screen than in one of the many Disney+ series.

They further quote the actor:

"Oh, I think so, yeah, yeah, yeah, I think so ... if it was a film. Yeah, I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to TV, I must admit, I just like the big screen, you know?"

Well, poodoo. So it sounds like a good news / bad news situation. Neeson wants to reprise the role, but a PT era cinematic release seems like a real long shot.
