Movie News

Tons in casting news for X-Men First Class: Jason Flemying (Snatch, Lock Stock, From Hell…he’s been in a ton of movies) has been cast as Nightcrawler’s dad, Oliver Platt has signed on as a non-mutant character, possibly a villain, with Rose Byrne also playing a young Dr. Moira MacTaggert. Also joining the cast is Morgan Lily as a young Mystique and January Jones as Emma Frost. Zoe Kravitz has been said to have been cast as Angel and Bill Milner (Son of Rambow) as young Magneto.

Captain America, and most likely Avengers, is being shot in 2D with a 3D conversion to happen later, but director Joe Johnston feels it can still look good if the 3D conversion isn’t rushed. We also get our first hint at Cap’s USO gig.

Joss Whedon gives plenty of hints about The Avengers film, and also talks a bit about his script doctoring on Captain America.

In other Avengers news, Alice Eve (who recently left the cast of X-Men First Class) has now signed on as a minor villain in this film. Wait, she’s also Sue Storm in the Fantastic Four reboot? She gets around like a record!

Hugh Jackman has dropped out of Avon Man in order to pump up for Wolverine 2, which takes place in Japan.

Who is gonna play the new Spiderman’s love interest? Much like how the lead role went for a while, it’s just a list of possibles.

Speculation is already starting on Thor 2. Meanwhile, Jaime Alexander talks about her character in this film, Lady Sif.

Get your first look at Tomar-Re in the new Green Lantern movie.

Sounds like David Goyer is more likely to direct the Superman Reboot than Jonathan Nolan…but that’s if it even happens of course.

Television News

Io9 offers a terrific guide to the new programming for this fall.
