Fortunately for us collectors, Hasbro is able to fill out some of the scenes in recent media with repaints or slight retools of existing figures.  Koska Reeves is a straight repaint of VC226 Bo-Katan Kryze, with the obvious exceptions of the headsculpt and belt/holster assembly.  Axe Woves, fellow member of the Mandalorian Resistance and repainted figure with new head, should have also been available at this same time.  Along with Migs Mayfeld, this trio make up a mini-wave that is exclusive to Target.  For some reason, Axe didn’t make the same boat out of China, so he’s still to come - hopefully soon.

Koska Reeves is a Nite Owl, an elite Mandalorian Soldier loyal to Bo-Katan.  The Nite Owls were a part of the Death Watch, which split allegiance between Darth Maul and Bo-Katan after Maul killed Pre Vizsla during the Great Mandalorian Business.  Later, after the Empire scorched their planet, the Nite Owls continued to support Bo-Katan, and were the elite soldiers of the Mandalorian Resistance, which intended to restore the planet to its pre-Imperial ways.  Reeves is played by Mercedes Varnado, known in wrestling circles as Sasha Banks.  I’m not sure about any of that, but it’s what I read on the internet.

The figure is just as awesome as when first released a few months ago as Bo-Katan Kryze.  I gave that figure a 9/10, picking on the lack of accessories (jet pack flames, gauntlet knife or rope) and the lack of the moveable rangefinder.  Well, it turns out the rangefinder is moveable (as pointed out by one of our readers in the Bo-Katan review), it’s just that my sample was stuck.  But here on Koska’s helmet, it moves freely.  As for the accessories, the same thing applies.  Koska merely comes with a single blaster, so the lack of anything else is a bit more of a bummer.

The paint applications are excellent.  There is some nice wear and weathering on the armor, and the Nite Owl emblems on the shoulders are sharp.  The helmet isn’t as elaborate as Bo-Katan’s, but still looks great.  The big difference here, besides the single holster, is the headsculpt.  Like Bo-Katan, Hasbro knocked it out of the park, with an outstanding resemblance to Ms. Varnado.

It will be nice once Axe Woves arrives, and we can complete the fight scenes aboard the Titus Welliver’s Imperial freighter.  We can also mostly recreate the skirmish aboard the Quarren freighter (minus the Quarren).  We can also perfectly replicate the scene on the bridge of Moff Gideon’s bridge.  The last time I tried that, I was missing both Koska Reeves and Fennec Shand.  Anyway, 9/10.
