Here’s the third Carbonized figure in the wave, after we’ve already reviewed the Remnant Stormtrooper and Imperial Death Trooper figures. Both of those were fully armored characters, and army-builders at that. The Carbonized effect might give you pause, but you could pass off either in your displays, as long as you didn’t put them to close to their properly deco’ed mates.
Here we have the first, and I believe only, carbonized figure (including the Sixer line) that has a face and other parts with bare skin. We all probably wondered how that would come out in the process. Well, it seems that Hasbro kind of punted on that, and simply carbonized the clothing and accessories, but not the face and bare arms. Again, the figure sculpt is identical to the original on which this is based, VC164 Cara Dune.
This version is the same as the original, with the exception of the carbonized hue and the packaging. To me, the extra paint treatment makes the figure’s clothing look wet, perhaps with a bit of extra sparkle. That may make it the most realistically executed wet figure Hasbro as ever made. It might be spot on perfect if you wanted to recreate the scene in the S1:E4 “Sanctuary”, where Cara Dune is pinned down in the water by the Raider AT-ST. Amazingly, you really could pull off that scene, since Hasbro has graciously given us that vehicle. Sure, we only have the one raider that came with it, and we don’t have Cara’s comrade in proper Beskar armor yet, but still. it’s something. Side by side, this new version is definitely shinier than her VC164 counterpart, but you might be able to display it somewhere in a scene, even if not half submerged in water.
As with the other carbonized figures we’ve reviewed, this one has the double-thick cardback with the foil effect. Otherwise the artwork is identical.
For 5 extra bucks, you get the privilege of owning a sparkly version of one of the few figures Hasbro has made (so far) from The Mandalorian - that is, if you can find it. Kudos to Hasbro for getting something out there to coincide with Season 2, even if it isn’t quite what most of us wanted.
