Another “re-paint”, although this one, like the other holograph figures in The Saga Collection, is more of a “re-cast”, being produced in translucent plastic and having no paint to speak of.  It is

This is the fourth holographic release in the 74-figure Saga Collection basic line.  This one, like the others, has positives and negatives.  The main good point is that the figure itself is pretty excellent.  It originated from the 2005 ROTS line, and was most recently released in The Vintage Collection as VC16.  That is all well and good, as it’s a solid release that holds up well over time.  But there is some debate about whether this figure or the Thirtieth Anniversary Collection 08-01 is the best Episode III Obi-Wan available today.  But in 2006, it most definitely was the best, and was a good choice for a repaint.

This Obi-Wan has ball-jointed shoulders, elbows, knees, ankles, head, and waist, with swivels at the wrists and hips.  That’s a high level of articulation at this point in the line.  The figure includes a plastic robe, unlit hilt that fits into the belt hole, and a fully lit lightsaber.  The only accessory missing from the original 2005 release is the pilot headset.

Now the negative:  This comes across as a superfluous figure because there is ALMOST no sign of Obi-Wan as a holograph in Revenge of the Sith.  There is a fleeting moment where you can see him if you pause the video at the moment where Yoda is on Kashyyyk, and he is viewing the Jedi Council as a tabletop holograph.  In that shot, you can see a tiny Obi-Wan, along with most other members of the council.  I couldn’t find any other moment where he is a holograph, so please tell me if you know of such a scene.

So that makes this almost a useless release, but it’s a quality action figure for what it is.  I’m torn, but I’ll give it a 6.  That’s the 7/10 that I gave the VC16 version, minus one point because it probably shouldn’t exist.  A better thing for my money would have been a miniature Jedi Council holograph accessory, that you could have at Yoda’s Kashyyyk command post.  I would enjoy that.
