Passel Argente was another blink-and-you’ll-miss-him character.  He was a member of the Separatist Council, and was present during their few moments on screen, as well as at the end of the whole thing on Mustafar when he was hacked by Anakin/Vader.  He was allegedly first seen in TPM, although I was unable to locate him.  He was seen on Geonosis in AOTC, as he was present for the birth of the CIS under Dooku.  There’s still a character or two I’d like to see from the Council, but it would seem to be a near-zero possibility of that happening.

As has been mentioned over the past few reviews, this was a repainted figure rushed out the door by Hasbro due to heavy demand for Star Wars stuff in 2005.  Passel Argente was first introduced into the 3.75” line in 2002, when he was part of the nifty Geonosis War Room sets.  There were 2 sets of 3 figures each, which included half of the holographic table viewed by the council as they cowered in the caves like the cowardly cowards they were.  That figure was fairly lame at the time, although less so because articulation was still pretty underdeveloped back then.

Passel Argente is nearly a statue, with swivel shoulders and elbows being the only meaningful articulation.  Even then, posing is limited because of the drooping sleeves, which look like wings if the arms are swiveled upward.  The real draw here is that he’s repainted in colors that represent his appearance in ROTS.  However, Hasbro made the odd call to paint on a glowing lightsaber wound across his abdomen.  That pretty much makes this figure scene specific to the frame or two right after Anakin/Vader slashes him, but before he falls to the ground dead.  Unless you just tip him over onto the shelf as a poorly posed dead guy.  On the other hand, if you pose the figure with his hands clasped across his body, he more or less covers the battle damage, so you can pretend it’s not there.  But you’ll know.  And your friends will know.  And you won’t be able to sleep at night because of your attempt at deception.

One other thing, he does come with the flaming Mustafar base, which is kinda neat, but also a little cheesy at the same time.

We gave the 2002 figure a 5/10, and this figure is a weird repaint three years later, after much better articulation was introduced.  I’m not saying it was a bad idea to rush him to marked during The Great Repaint Fracas of 2005, but the sculpt just didn’t age well.  That, coupled with the weird slash across his body, knocks this figure down a peg from the original.  The Mustafar base isn’t enough to stop the downward slide.
