Yay!  It’s another Double Dip Day!  You get two terrible figures for the price of one!  Well, that’s not really true.  If you choose to spend your time reading both reviews, than you’ve paid twice. Forget what I said.  You guys are screwed.  Consider it a tariff on our reviews.

The B2 Super Battle Droid debuted in AOTC, and immediately proved to be significantly more formidable than the silly and expendable B1 Battle Droids.  We knew this when we saw a SBD shove aside a battle droid that was in its way, and fire powerful blasts from an arm cannon that would make Nolan Ryan proud.  But even still, they managed to be made to look foolish by R2-D2, who provided a pair of them a slapstick moment.

This Super Battle droid isn’t very good.  I should mention that my sample has somewhat warped legs.  This may be a result of years of storage in a shoebox, or it may just be that the plastic is crap.  I had difficulty getting it to stand upright, and when I did, it was usually leaning awkwardly, struggling to balance.  That said, if you have a sample that stands without issue, it doesn’t look too terrible standing there with his right arm raised upward in a shooting position.  It could serve in the background of a display.  But it does next to nothing other than that pose, so it’s a veritable statue.  And that’s not really an exaggeration, as it only has 4POA.  If 5POA is not okay, then 4POA is…something worse than that.  (It’s late as I write this.  Gimme a break, people!)

As for accessories, a double blast effect is included that attaches to the wrist guns and provides a fairly satisfying look.  This SBD also comes with a swappable arm cannon, along with a red projectile the fires via a spring loaded mechanism inside the cannon.

Hasbro had released a couple of SBD’s in the “Blue” Saga line for AOTC.  This figure appears to be a repaint of the one that came with the Deluxe Yoda set.  It might actually be a slight retool, due to the right arm.  While this release is easily removable and can swap with the included arm cannon, the AOTC Deluxe figure did not have a swappable arm, and it may not be removable.  This indicates that the tooling may be slightly different to accommodate it being pulled from the shoulder socket with relative ease.  The arm cannon was included with the basic figure, which was otherwise different in that it had a battle damage feature non seen here.  So this figure is a bit tricky to classify.  I’m calling it a repaint, but with a different accessory loadout, although it really offers nothing new.  It’s sort of a kitbash that might also have a tiny sliver of new tooling.  Whatever, it’s not worth the effort for most of you, unless you’re trying to categorize every figure into tidy silos.  And what madman wants to do that?

I’ll give it a 3.  A weak 3 because mine is bendy, but it’s a stronger 3 if you have an unwarped sample.
