There are three “named” male communications officers that have been identified in various sources- Wyron Serper, Romas Nevander, and (Beryl) Chiffonage. This is to say that there are at least three images floating around under different character names, though sometimes the names are switched. It’s possible that all three images come from a single sequence in the Hoth control room. At least two of them have been identified as being played by the same actor. The third guy looks really similar and is not associated with a specific actor as far as I can tell. So what I’m suggesting here is that there is one guy who was assigned 3 different names at various points, with official sources still holding that they are different characters. To make things even more absurd, the actor who might have played at least two of these characters, Burnell Tucker, also played Rebel Communications Officer Del Goren in the Yavin control room in ANH. Yet none of these 3 guys is Del Goren? That wouldn’t have been easier? As a side note, Burnell Tucker is a classic example of an actor you’ve definitely seen multiple times, but might not know it. Though he hasn’t appeared in anything for several years now, he had a long and prolific career in movies and TV, frequently portraying military men or pilots in everything from Dr Strangelove to The Omen.

Anyway, the communications guy(s) has the same basic costume as the Deck Officer/technician. The big difference is a headset instead of a hat, and sometimes he doesn’t wear gloves. Is this an exciting figure prospect? Not really. But they did make Toryn Farr. Also, 3 “characters” could simultaneously be checked off with a single figure so I’m sure there’s at least one person out there who would buy 3.
