This guy has lines.  Like honest to goodness lines.  In Star Wars.  Of all the communications guys (there are a lot), he is by far the most prominent.  He has a place at the table and seems to be the only guy at the Yavin base who can communicate directly with the pilots.  It’s almost surprising that he never had a prominent role in the Expanded Universe.  The actor here actually played two different Rebel Communications guys in ESB, but neither is Del Goren.  This is a combination of very specific typecasting and the stupidity of the old canon.

In terms of aesthetics, he’s not a great action figure option.  He’s a white guy in drab military clothing with a little communication headset.  That being said, of all the white guys in drab military clothing with communications headsets, he’s the best choice.  If they can make Torryn Farr, why not Del Goren?
