Tarn Mison was a pilot for the Rebel Alliance during the Battle of Hoth. We know he was a pilot because of his pilot gear, but he was not present during Leia’s briefing. He can be seen very briefly crossing in front of the screen just after Shawn Valdez gives some commands. In the old EU, Mison was Tycho Celchu’s gunner on Rogue Five, and later flew an X-Wing to accompany the ill-fated transport Bright Hope.

Tarn Mison was played by matte painter Michal Pangrizio. The scene in which he appears takes place in front of a beautiful matte painting of a Rebel Transport and the rebel personnel are all played by artists who had worked on the film- notable Ralph McQuarrie, Joe Johnston, Pangrizio and Harrison Ellenshaw. Mison was named for one of the old Decipher game, which used the behind-the-scenes image, but photoshopped him in front of what appears to be a Yavin background. You know, those cards have really made it hard to track down these obscure characters in the actual films. Better nerds than myself have identified Mison’s helmet as Luke’s ESB Helmet. So this guy is also a helmet thief.
