The Purge Trooper Commander follows a tried an true Star Wars formula. This formula states that the grunt plus some racing stripes equals the commander. The Purge Trooper Commander is distinguished from the regular Purge Trooper by a red pauldron, a red imperial symbol and some red piping on the kama. If that red piping is a nod to the red piping on the dress blues of U.S.M.C. NCO’s, that would be neat. Additionally, the commanders eschew the electro melee weapons used by the base Purge Troopers in favor of traditional ranged weapons. They’re actually a bit of the pain in the tuchus in the game.
Commander figures usually rank a tick below the more common army building figures in terms or priority, and that is reflected on our list. Again, as the Purge Troopers appear to be nothing more than a repaint of the TAC 30-07 Airborne Trooper, how Hasbro did not have a Purge Trooper “Special Action Figure” 3-Pack on tap for the game launch is beyond me. Two regular Purge Troopers, one commander, all three melee weapons, and one DC-15 rifle would have sold like hot cakes. What happened, Hasbro? You used to be cool, man.
