Via flashbacks you see Cal as a padawan being trained by Jaro Tapal.  You actually play as the padawan (sort of).  But everyone hates kids, so a kid Cal figure probably wouldn’t be a retail hit.  The only way I could see this working is as part of a pair of complimentary 3-packs.  You could have Cal (Padawan), Cere (Padawan), and Eno Cordova (Jedi Master) in one 3-pack which is complimented by Cal (Scavenger), Cere (Rebel Operative), and Eno Cordova (Hologram) in a second 3-pack.  Neither would sell very well though.
