So, we’re reducing the amount of credits needed to unlock the top heroes by 75%. Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader will now be available for 15,000 credits; Emperor Palpatine, Chewbacca, and Leia Organa for 10,000 credits; and Iden at 5,000 credits. Based on what we’ve seen in the trial, this amount will make earning these heroes an achievement, but one that will be accessible for all players.
Presumably, the plan here is to make unlocking these characters easier, which would motivate most players to go for the achievement. Conversely, it seems on the surface that EA is risking some income, because this strategy might dissuade some players from purchasing the characters quickly, since its potentially more rewarding to earn them. It's a bit of a compromise, as I think most players want these high level unlockable assets to only be available through gameplay. The characters can still be had for real world money.
