The Book of Boba Fett is off to an amazing start. My only complaint is that I wish the episodes were twice as long. I wasn't ready for them to end when they did. I want more. MORE! The week wait feels interminable. I enjoyed the weekly releases for The Mandalorian because it felt more communal. Within twenty four hours, most of us were on the same page. No one could binge way ahead, but with Boba Fett I wish I could bing the whole thing in one sitting. It's killing me to see where this goes, but I digress.
The bittersweet of this situation is that we're already falling well behind on deserving figures. This is not a rant against Hasbro. The new Lucasfilm is notoriously tightlipped when it comes to new media, and we're forever going to be in a trail position. Even Hasbro's favorite child, The Black Series, is typically getting some of the new media figures after that media has completed its run. There are three characters in particular that that I feel warrant immediate consideration in the Vintage Collection and several other that would be worthwhile at some point.
Black Krrsantan
Black Krrsantan is best known to comic book fans as an associate of Dr. Aphra. Prior to his inclusion in Chapter 2, he was already being requested by fans, but his introduction into The Book of Boba Fett was nothing short of epic. The Wookiee bounty hunter was instantly menacing. This one is a must, and my personal highest priority after two episodes.
Tusken Warrior
The Tusken Warrior who trains Boba Fett in melee weapons is played by stunt woman Joanna Bennett. She makes an immediate impression in Chapter 1 for both stylistic and plot reasons, and that continues into Chapter 2. I almost want to say that the costume evokes a mild Darth Revan vibe. I wanted a figure the second she stepped on screen.
Tusken Chieftain
The Chieftain is not as heavily involved in the plot as the Tusken Warrior, save for a few head nods and the gesture of a water pod, but it's another amazing character design. This one could largely be done as a reskinning of the existing Tusken Raider figure, so it would be great to see a retailer pick it up as an exclusive.
By no means is that the full extent of the characters deserving Vintage Collection enshrinement. Those are just the three that I think are critical. The shirtless Gamorrean Guards would make killer figures, and it feels like Jennifer Beal's Garsa Fwip will be impactful by the conclusion of the series. Finally, who wouldn't want a Mayor Mok Shaiz, especially if it gets us closer to a Vintage Collection Hammerhead.
