What does this mean? All we know for certain is the VC186 - Boba Fett was produced on seven different days at the factory. We have no idea how many figures are produced in each run, but I can't imagine Hasbro would bother for a trivial amount. The effort to set up the tooling must be significant based on the industry videos that are available on the interwebs. The juice has to be worth the squeeze, so I'm fairly certain this translates to a significant number of figures that have been made thus far.
To me, this again speaks to the value of definitive updates to core characters. These are the type of figure selections that appeal to all collectors. New collectors, long time collectors, hard core collectors, and casual collectors. That latter is particularly important. There are exponentially more potential customers who recognize Boba Fett, but think Amanaman is from Fortnite than collectors who know who Weeba Weeba is. But sales of these core characters can allow Hasbro to take a risk on figures like Velken Tezeri.
I'm not saying this as a victory lap or as self congratulatory, but I have been campaigning for an update to the Episode VI Boba Fett since the return of TVC was announced. And it appears to be an unmitigated and runaway sales success. Despite this, whenever I would mention the need for this update, I would be met with a degree of groans from the comments section and on social media. It speaks to the fact that those who engage in fan sites, including the proprietors themselves, are the classic case of the vocal minority. We always have to be cognizant of not just the needs of our personal collections, but also the needs of a healthy product line as a whole.
If I had to bank on another core update that would approximate the success of Boba Fett, it would be Episode IV Han Solo.
