In my opinion, one of the things that has been missed in the promotional materials for the Cantina is a sense of relative size. We've seen figures in imagery that provide some context. We've seen the dimensions labeled on the graphics. I don't think either of those things give the viewer a true appreciation for the grandeur of this Cantina. Something else needs to be in frame to give our minds an instant reference point. Something like a person. That would give us instant context. It's exactly why Hooper wants Brody to go to the end of the pulpit in Jaws:
During last Wednesday's HasLab presentation for fan outlets, Chris and Jing had the Cantina spread out horizontally. Chris literally said it was to give us a sense of scale. It did just that. Trust me. The Cantina is breathtaking. Seeing it within the context of two people in the frame really makes an impression. It's not just me saying it. John (aka The Vintage Concepts) said the exact same thing on this past Friday's Cantina Social Hour. I really wish we could share that image with you, and have asked for permission to do so (waiting to hear back). It really sells the point that this Cantina is an epic piece on par with the Barge. Like the Barge, the Cantina can be made to be shelf-installable via the modularity, while it also collects a ton of figures.
Since we don't yet have the go ahead to publish the image from last week's presentation, yesterday's Behind the Scenes video from Hasbro Pulse provides a decent second option:
You can see Emily and another Hasbro employee in frame to give you a sense of scale. This is in what I'm calling the "Elstree" configuration, but it should still convey a sense of how massive this piece is. To me it's another nail in the coffin of the "lack of value" argument. I don't plan to display my Cantina matching the Elstree footprint as shown above. I plan to take advantage of the modularity and display it in a more butterflied configuration, which is similar to how it was shown in the presentation mentioned above. That will give it a similar footprint to the Barge. To that end, this Cantina might usurp the Barge as the focal point of my collection.
