By now we’ve all heard that it’s highly unlikely we will see another action figure of Princess Leia in her “slave” outfit. Nevertheless, we have 3 versions available that can be considered worthy of display, and are borderline definitive. As Chris explained during one of our comprehensive looks at figures that will go with your Sail Barge:
There are three options available to you, each with its own set of pros and cons. I prefer the “Sandstorm” Leia because of the more accurate and vibrant paint applications, but it does not come with Jabba’s drinking glass. The TLC Leia comes with interchangeable seated legs:

There are several older versions, of course, but they’ve all been rendered obsolete by one of these three versions. We’ll be revisiting the VC88 soon, so between the three you’d have to decide which one works best for your displays.
As for the figure itself, it’s outstanding. It’s highly detailed with some solid paint applications (a few bits of overspray here and there). The head sculpt and face paint are very good. I don’t like how the head is tilted. It gives her a bit of an attitude, which is okay, but there’s no way to make it more natural, so it gets annoying. The accessories all work well together. It would be nice if Leia’s hands were sculpted a bit less specifically, as she struggles to maintain a solid grip on the vibroblade.
The biggest issue here is that this is a repack from the TLC release, minus the sculpted, swap out, sitting position legs. Everything else is the same. As such, it’s actually a step down from that figure, which is, in my opinion, the best Slave Leia out there. The VC88 has merits as well. But this figure could have been considered the definitive TVC version if it had just included the extra legs. It’s a shame it does not. For that reason, you only need this TVC version for the card (both “Return” and “Revenge”). If you don’t care about such things, get the TLC version. Alternatively, hang on for the VC88 review.
In order for this figure to be a 10, it would need the alternate legs, an alternate chain of full length (prior to being cut by R2), and the ability to pose the head straight. I give it an 8. The legs alone would earn the earlier TLC version a 9.
Verdict: It doesn’t matter. (But for the record, I would recommend a re-issue, along with the legs, in time for the Barge.)
Disney has forbidden its licensees from making future “slave” Leia product. Presumably a stealthier release, like the “Sandstorm” Leia, might pass the censor, but this figure will never be released again (barring a change of heart from Disney). Your only option is the secondary market, and this one eclipses $100.
Verdict Guide:
Re-sculpt = The figure is not definitive, and a new version should be developed.
Re-issue = This version is definitive (or close enough), and shows sufficient secondary market demand to warrant a straight repack.
No Action = This release does not require new attention.
Available on both a Revenge of the Jedi logo card and Return of the Jedi logo card.
