We take a break from our Legacy Collection retrospective in order to review a figure from the last wave of the Solo line.  As is typical of last waves, this one was tricky to find in stores.  Walmart had a few cases put out, so if you were lucky, you may have found them.  Otherwise, you had to try your luck online.  The way things are going, it is unlikely most of these characters will make it into the collector line, which is a real travesty.

This is Tobias Beckett, who mentored Han Solo for a bit, before betraying him.  The face somewhat vaguely resembles Woody Harrelson, but I’ve seen better from Hasbro.  The sculpt is otherwise very good.  Beckett is wearing his signature duster.  The main part of the coat is separately sculpted and can be removed, but since the sleeves are left behind, there’s no point in doing so.  Nevertheless, it does add some nice depth to the look of the figure.  Also separately sculpted is the belt and double holster assembly, which looks great.

Becket actually has 9POA.  In addition to the typical 5, he’s got swivel wrists, and swivel boots.  The wrists are slightly helpful, but nothing that’s particularly awesome.  The boots seem to simply be a side effect of them being separately sculpted from the rest of the leg.  Having them swivel at the top of the boot is more useless than the swivel wrists. The only benefit, is perhaps an almost imperceptible ability to improve the balance of the figure when trying to stand it.  On my sample, the soles of the feet aren’t fully flat to the ground, so there is a slight, yet annoying, wobble to the figure.  You may or may not have some difficulty getting it to stand upright.

Becket comes with two different blasters.  Hasbro did a nice job of sculpting the holsters so that they hold each blaster.  Beckett’s hands, on the other…hand…aren’t quite as sturdy.  The left hand, in particular, holds the blaster very loosely.  Both are very simply painted, with just a bit of color added to the grips.  This figure is equipped with a Force Link 2.0 chip.

Overall, it’s not a bad looking figure, but as is typical, it is done in by the lack of articulation.  Some of these 5POA figures are just throwaways, but the good ones just make me sad.  This figure belongs in TVC.  As it is, there’s not much here to elevate the figure beyond the standard score of a 4.
