You get not one, but two 5POA figures packaged together so you can be mad twice as much!  These characters are essentially available in slightly different sculpts in the basic line.  Is this set worth the price of admission?

For a little less than double the price, you get two figures here, neither of which are particularly awesome.  Hasbro’s strategery is seeming to destroy any #wheresrey nonsense (at least in the 5POA line) by giving you what is almost the same figure as the basic offering, although to paraphrase Adam Pawlus, different enough to make you indifferent.  So there are two 5POA Rey’s from Force Friday in the same costume with the same accessories available at the same time.  They’re not the same figure, though.  The robes are sculpted pretty differently, and the faces appear to display different emotions.  It’s really a matter of preference.  You can compare the two in the images above.  This Rey serves the standard 5POA purpose. I penalized the basic figure a little extra because Rey really needs the ability to pose in a variety of fighting stances.  This is exacerbated here because she is actually partnered with an enemy soldier with whom she (presumably) must fight.  This is a reasonably well done, but annoying, 5POA figure.  I think the basic version has better wardrobe sculpting, but the emotion on this Rey is a little softer, and maybe a bit more visually appealing.  Really, in the end, it’s the same figure.  But different.

If you’ve seen Chris’s review of the Black Series super-articulated Praetorian Guard, you’ll want to toss this one into a meat grinder,  Rey’s lack of articulation makes me mad, but this one is also fit-inducing.  This is also nearly the same figure as its brother that is packed with the BB-8 Super Duper Playset, but it has a different helmet and weapon, so it is a second 5POA Praetorian variety.  However, that figure is difficult to get unless you’re willing to spring for the playset.  With Black Series guards currently a tough find, this may be your best bet to own this trooper.  A third 5POA version is due to come out with an Executioner as part of a TRU exclusive Force Link set.  In any case, the most interesting part of this figure is the weapon, which can split into two parts and be wielded one in each hand.  Again, the lack of articulation makes a realistic fighting stance impossible.

The set is worthwhile only because it’s the cheapest and easiest way to get a Praetorian at this scale, and if you like this Rey more than the basic version.  Would have been cooler if Hasbro packed a different character, and coolest if Rey were available in the SA line.
