It’s no secret we at Bantha Skull loathe the 5POA figures. Here is an example of one that I loathe even more because I don’t loathe it. This would be a truly outstanding figure if it had articulation of the super variety.
Resistance Gunner Paige meets the 5POA requirements well. She stands sturdily, she has excellent paint applications, she has a neutral stance, and she interacts well with her accessories. Her face is very well done, although I haven’t seen a good Star Wars image of actress Veronica Ngo to compare the likeness.
But this figure has an excellent sculpt. It completely annihilates the TFA era pilot figures. Comparing it to a 2015 Poe Dameron is like comparing it to a piece of worm-ridden filth. The folds in the flight suit, the details in the harness, and the interactive mask are worthy of a collector styled figure. The removable helmet is an interesting piece in and of itself, and fits snugly over the head, with the visor lining up perfectly with the eyes and nose. As a surprise, the oxygen mask has two tiny tabs which slip into two tiny notches in the helmet.
As a neutrally-posed figure, this is a tremendous offering. If Hasbro could just move on from these racka-frackin’ budget figures and just increase the rootin’-tootin’ articulation already, we can put this long, national nightmare behind us.
A rating of 5 is standard for a “good” 5POA figure. I give this a 7. It’s a poorly articulated collector’s figure with excellent accessories.
