One of two Kylo Ren figures released on Force Friday, this basic 5POA figure is just that.  It’s a basic 5POA figure.  Like most of the figures we’ve reviewed so far, it serves its purpose, which is to be an inferior and less expensive version of a super-articulated figure.

Professor Snape has a decent sculpt, it stands, and interacts well with both accessories.  Other than the headsculpt, this figure seems to be nearly identical to the one included with the TIE Silencer.  I don’t know if it’s the same exact mold, or if it is meant to be the same sculpt but was produced in two different factories, one or both of which might possibly be moving to Vietnam.*

There are two main differences as compared to the TFA Kylo figures.  Hasbro opted to not sculpt any robery (I just made that up) as part of the actual figure itself.  This TLJ version is sculpted with a short tunic, while the cape is a removeable, slightly flexible plastic.  The other difference is that Kylo sports the facial scar from his duel with Rey on Bigger Death Star.

In the end, there’s nothing special about this figure to compensate for the lousy 5POA.  It is what it is: 5.
