Tasu Leech would probably be a cool character, except that he had the misfortune of having his shining moment during one of the more ridiculous scenes in The Force Awakens.  Whether you loved or hated the movie, I don’t know of too many people who walked out of the theater and said, “Hey Frank, you know what scene I just looooved?  That one with the awesome rolling death beasts that swarmed around Han Solo’s Baleen-class freighter, Eravana, and ended up saving the galaxy by devouring Tasu Leech, along with his entire Kanjiklub, and his rivals, Bala-Tik and the Guavian Death Gang!  I gotta see that s*** again in IMAX 5D Super Colon Blow!”

Anyway, what we have here is a surprisingly nice looking figure.  The face sculpt and paint applications are neat, although rather plain.  However, Tasu Leech is one of the few recent figures from Hasbro that doesn’t have crappy facial hair paint applications.  Maybe it looks a bit like it was drawn on with a marker, but it still is fairly crisp.  The figure’s outfit is sufficiently creased, folded, and textured.  He has chest armor that is nicely sculpted, along with wrist guards and shin guards.  All of Leech’s armored pieces are weathered and worn a bit.  He’s got a skirt that looks leathery in texture, and doesn’t really hinder the figure’s ability to move its legs.  The head/long hair sculpt does inhibit the neck ball joint a bit, but it’s still better than a lot of other recent figures. 

Leech comes with an unusual rifle, but which does look to be screen accurate.  Unfortunately, it has no paint or battle damage to it, so it looks a little odd.  The weird 1- of 3-part extra accessory is also pretty strange, at least as a standalone item.  It comes across as a big gun that folds, and has a grip on top and bottom.  Whatever for that.

While the figure definitely looks pretty nice, the color palette is a bummer, as was much of the palette across the entire film.  Not Hasbro’s fault though.  What is Hasbro’s fault is the one glaring problem with the figure (besides the lack of super-articulation):  It has a bit of a problem standing.  It will do so, it’s just not that sturdy.  I attribute this to the wider than necessary stance, which forces the soles of the boots to angle ever so slightly outward.  It’s hard to get him to stand solidly, but mileage may vary with each figure. 

If this were in the collector line, we’d want the other Kanjiklub members.  It’s unfair now, because we just got a Bala-Tik with the rathtar, and he can be flanked by as many Guavian Enforcers as you can buy.  Poor Tasu Leech is pretty much on his own.  He looks kinda bad-ass, though, so he might hold his own in a fight.

Good looking figure, weird accessories, little bit of a balance issue.
