Yet again, the TFA line brings us a background character with a minuscule role.  As usual, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.  This figure helps round out your D’Qar Resistance Base diorama.  Yes, I know you have one, so don’t be coy.  So is it cool that we got it at all, or is it important enough that it should have been super-articulated?

This isn’t a very exciting figure, so I’ll keep this review pretty short.  The figure stands sturdily.  That’s about the best part of it.  The sculpt is really bland.  I mean, the character itself is pretty bland, but the sculpt takes that down a couple of notches.  There is very little in the way of texturing to the uniform. It lacks folds or any other kind of appealing quality.  It would have gone a long way to have a separately sculpted coat, or even the harness, but it’s just a lamely sculpted blob.  The figure’s helmet is an okay design, although it looks more like a motorcycle helmet than anything necessary for battle.  The paint is also amazingly lame.  The drab colors don’t help (not really Hasbro’s fault), but the bright yellow visor is inexcusable.  It’s the shortcut of shortcuts.

The helmet, of course, is not removable.  Coupled with the idiot visor, this figure simply has no personality.  It barely grips the weapon, which would seem like something this guy needed to do to save it.

Basically, it looks about as close to a 1995-era POTF2 figure as any figure I’ve seen in, like, ever.  Hasbro wanted to go back to basics with the 5POA line, so in that sense, they were supremely successful here.  This figure is straight from 1995.  It actually reminds me of that concept rebel pilot speeder bike Expanded Universe thing from the POTF2 line.  The only redeeming quality is that it can pass as background fodder, but it’s otherwise pretty bad.
