Here’s another odd 2-pack.  Two characters that really don’t have much of a relationship.  You could argue that since Snap Wexley flew and X-Wing during the attack on Starkiller Base and there were First Order Snowtroopers stationed there, that this pack makes sense.  But don’t bother, because it really doesn’t.  Yet, here it is.

The snowtrooper is typical of the 5POA First Order trooper figures. The sculpt is pretty good, while the paint is very simple.  Due to its simplicity, you would think the paint should be pretty close to perfect, and it kinda is.  The figure holds the blaster pretty well, but unfortunately, due to the kama, there isn’t the typical “hip holster” notch molded into this figure’s leg.  The backpack is removable (leaving a large hole right in his spine), as is the black pauldron.  Should you choose to do so, the head has a full range of motion on the ball joint. With the pauldron, it’s somewhat limited.  It’s not a particularly memorable figure, as these troopers role in the film were either reduced from the original plan, or were possibly never really planned as a big part anyway.  The Snowtroopers work when standing at attention in your General Hux Address diorama that you totally have set up on your shelf right now.

Snap Wexley is a character that had a very tiny part in The Force Awakens, but a quick check of Wookieepedia indicates he’s made several appearances in canon materials.  His mother, Norra, had joined the Rebel Alliance, and served as a pilot during the Battle of Endor.  Anyway, Snap Wexley joins Poe Dameron and Ello Asty as Resistance pilots in Hasbro’s 5POA line.  He’s a decent sculpt, although like Asty, the uniform is a bit underwhelming in the fabric details, almost like the original mold was better, but then was left in the sun.  The flight vest would have been better as a separate piece.  As it is, the paint applications are a bit sloppy, with some of the vest’s white paint bleeding onto the flight suit itself.  The good part is the separately sculpted chest box, air hose, and holster.  The pistol fits in Snap’s hand or holster pretty tightly.  The real bummer with this figure, and all the 5POA resistance pilots from the TFA line, is the horrific bright yellow idiot visor painted onto the non-removable helmet.  It kills what would otherwise be a decent 5POA offering.

It’s a weird pairing.  Wexley basically helped kill this Snowtrooper from a great distance.  The snowtrooper isn’t happy about that, and probably isn’t happy about this set.  Neither am I.  It’s okay, but I would have preferred at least a removable helmet without the idiot visor.  That would have been fine for this line.  We’ll probably never see Snap Wexley in the SA line, unless he has a bigger role in the rest of the sequel trilogy.  Same probably goes for the snowtrooper.

4.  It escapes a 3 because the slightly better value of the 2-pack makes up a bit for the faults in the figures.
